Hi babes! In trying to think about how I want to kick off this whole blog thang, I thought it was important to start where it all began. Welcome to Hazendale Organic Farm in Greensboro, Vermont. My Dad and Grandfather were both raised here, although when they were young, it was a dairy farm. In the seventies, my Great Uncle David took over the farm and began what was one of the farms that started the organic movement in the country (remember, before the invention of GMOs, there was no "organic" food, it was all just food).
Depending on the time of year, the farm stand sells everything from leafy greens, beets, cucumbers, peppers, and strawberries to winter squash, onions and garlic. They were even putting edible flowers in their mesclun mix long before the Summer 2016 Instagram trend.
After a week on the farm and spending time with family, I was able to find ways to bring the "back to nature" principles to the concrete jungle. There are local farmer's markets and budget friendly in-season produce at the grocery stores. There are all kinds of fitness/wellness events and free workouts that happen all over the city. Living a healthy lifestyle doesn't have to be expensive or confusing or time consuming. I'm excited to share more of my fitness journey with you and if there's anything you want to see, message me and let me know!
